Two drivers and a man who made racial words or behaviour were among defendants sentenced recently at Scarborough Magistrates Court.
Josh Martin, 41, of Grosvenor Road, Scarborough, pleaded guilty to driving whilst disqualified, driving while using a mobile phone and driving without insurance on the A165 at Osgodby.
He was given an eight-week prison sentence suspended for 12 months on condition he does 100 hours’ unpaid work and banned for a further 18 months. He must pay £85 prosecution costs and a £154 statutory surcharge.
Benjamin Milne, 22, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to assaulting a police emergency worker, criminal damage to a police cell and theft of wine worth £17 from a Scarborough garage and other offences.
He was jailed for 18 weeks and ordered to pay £100 compensation to North Yorkshire Police, £100 to the emergency worker and £85 prosecution costs.
Kai Webster, 35, of Wooler Street, Scarborough, pleaded guilty to failure to provide a specimen of blood when suspected of drink or drug driving, possessing cannabis and driving without insurance or a licence.
He was given a 12-month community order with 10 days’ rehabilitative activities and 120 hours’ unpaid work and banned from driving for 20 months. He must pay £85 prosecution costs and a £114 statutory surcharge.
Adam McFaul, 50, of Burniston, Scarborough, pleaded guilty to racially aggravated words or behaviour, resisting police and failure to attend court. He was given a 12-month community order with 15 days’ rehabilitative activities and ordered to pay £85 prosecution costs.
