The event, titled “The Sky’s the Limit”, was organised by ‘Women Winning’. This group was established about 18 months ago by Lynne Mee and Councillor Paula Stott. Although the initiative was not undertaken in her role as a councillor, it reflects the many ways in which councillors contribute to community life beyond the council chamber.

Women Winning is based on partnership working, bringing people and organisations together to share experience, encouragement and practical support. Key collaborators in the project have been Harrogate Civic Society and Harrogate Library. As well as providing traditional services, the Library plays an increasingly important role in developing and providing services and programmes which benefit the community as a whole.

Councillor Paula Stott said:

“Women Winning was created to bring women together, celebrate achievement and strengthen connections across Harrogate. The Sky’s the Limit was a fantastic example of what can happen when people from business, charity, voluntary and community backgrounds come together with a shared purpose.”

The event highlighted the strength and diversity of women’s leadership across Harrogate and celebrated the contribution made by local organisations, volunteers and community partners.

Harrogate Town Council is pleased to recognise the wider community contribution made by councillors, including the many voluntary and partnership activities they support outside their formal council roles.
