The Council is seeking to appoint a self-employed Neighbourhood Plan Project Administrator to provide administrative and project coordination support throughout the preparation of Harrogate’s Neighbourhood Plan.
The role offers a flexible contract of up to 37 hours per month and will support councillors, community stakeholders and the Council’s appointed planning consultant in managing the project through its various stages.
A Neighbourhood Plan gives local communities the opportunity to help shape future development in their area, influencing how land is used and helping to ensure that future growth reflects local priorities. The successful contractor will play a key role in ensuring the project runs smoothly, maintaining records, coordinating meetings and supporting engagement activities with residents and stakeholders.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Organising and servicing Neighbourhood Plan meetings, including agendas, papers and action logs.
- Attending meetings and preparing minutes and notes.
- Maintaining project plans, records and documentation.
- Coordinating communication between councillors, stakeholders and consultants.
- Supporting consultation and community engagement activities.
- Monitoring progress against project milestones and agreed actions.
The Council is looking for someone with strong organisational and communication skills, experience in administration or project support and the ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities. Experience of local government, community projects or stakeholder engagement would be advantageous.
The contract is expected to continue throughout the lifespan of the Neighbourhood Plan project, which is currently scheduled to run until 2031, subject to project requirements, performance and funding.
Applicants are invited to submit a CV and a short covering letter setting out relevant experience, which should include a proposed hourly rate and brief details of any relevant experience in neighbourhood planning, council administration or community project support.
