Harrogate Town Council takes first step towards a greener future - Harrogate Town Council

Harrogate Town Council is delighted to share details of one of its first and most forward-thinking projects. In recent weeks, the Council was approached by a local resident with a strong passion for sustainable development.

Although the Town Council is still in its early stages, Members quickly recognised the potential of this initiative. They agreed that securing funding from the GB Energy Community Fund for a feasibility study would be an important first step towards a greener, more energy-efficient Harrogate. With applications to the fund assessed on a first come, first served basis, time is critical — and the Council is determined to ensure that Harrogate does not miss out on this opportunity.

To make this happen, we are now inviting tenders from specialist technical consultants to work alongside the Council to deliver a feasibility study that will strengthen our application for grant funding. Importantly, this stage of the work is being carried out at no cost to the Town Council.

If successful, the project could pave the way for local residents and businesses to access renewable energy at more affordable prices — helping both the environment and the community.

The outcome of the GB Energy Community Fund application is expected to be announced in December 2025, and we look forward to updating residents as the project progresses.
