Revealed: Nearly 1,000 people attend BedFest in fundraiser for Harrogate and Knaresborough charity

A Harrogate and Knaresborough charity is celebrating raising a record-breaking £30,000 in a single day to support people living with sight loss and disability.

Another hugely successful BedFest saw more than 900 visitors attend the much-loved music, food and drink festival which is traditionally held on the same day as the Knaresborough Bed Race.

As beds raced past the entrance of Henshaws Arts & Crafts Centre at Bond End in Knaresborough on their way to the Nidd, attendees inside the venue were enjoying a full day of live music, food, drink and community celebration.

Clare Cunningham, Fundraiser at Henshaws, said: “We’re absolutely delighted that BedFest has raised a record-breaking £30,000 for Henshaws this year.

"BedFest is such a special event because it not only raises essential funds but also gives us the opportunity to open our doors and welcome hundreds of people into Henshaws Arts & Crafts Centre, allowing them to experience the creativity, talent and community that happens here every day.”

Visitors enjoyed performances from 14 local musicians and DJs, including Henshaws ambassador DJ Rory Hoy and Henshaws very own Henshaws Hot Spots, showcasing the creativity and talent of people supported by the charity.

Festival goers also enjoyed a fantastic selection of food and drink from local suppliers.

Craft beers were provided by Harrogate Brewing Co, Turning Point Brewing Co, Daleside and Roosters, while Urban Cuisine served loaded flatbreads and nachos.

More than 2,000 drinks were served throughout the day.

This year's event was made possible thanks to the support of headline sponsor Specsavers, alongside event sponsors Ison Harrison and Hartlaw.

Andy Bryer, retail director at Specsavers Harrogate, said: 'We're very proud of the team at Henshaws for organising yet another fabulous event that supports an important cause and helps the team continue their incredible work with people across North Yorkshire.

"It's a testament not just to Henshaws, but also to the people of Harrogate and the surrounding areas, who have raised a record amount of funds."

Henshaws Arts & Crafts Centre also kept visitors fuelled throughout the day with a BBQ and freshly made pizzas.
