Platinum selling Thin Lizzy album will be in spotlight at popular Harrogate music event
The forthcoming Vinyl Sessions event for Harrogate Hospital and Community Charity promises a treasure trove of classic moments by Irish rock icons Thin Lizzy.
Taking place at Starling Independent Bar Cafe Kitchen in Harrogate on Wednesday, July 8 at 7.30pm, the evening will deliver all of the Thin Lizzy hits and more, not forgetting some wonderful solo Phil Lynott collaborations with Gary Moore.
Pride of place at this month’s Vinyl Sessions will go to Thin Lizzy’s platinum-selling Greatest Hits album.
Released in 2004, this incredible album has the lot, including the band’s four top ten hit singles in the UK and tracks form their nine top ten hit albums.
As well as obvious selections such as Dancing in the Moonlight and The Boys Are Back in Town, the album features chart hits Waiting for an Alibi and Killer on the Loose, Out in the Fields and Parisienne Walkways.
It also includes key moments from Thin Lizzy’s classic Live and Dangerous, a live double album released in June 1978.
The event will start at 7.30pm with an introduction from MC Colin Paine and an artist profile and some historical background by Graham Chalmers of the Harrogate Advertiser.
The audio menu will comprise a Technics SL1210GR, NAD3240 Pre-Amp and a mighty Technics SEA-100 Power Amplifier driving the popular and punchy MACH 1 Loudspeakers.
The raffle ladies will also be there with some great prizes.
Since it was first launched, Vinyl Sessions has raised nearly £25,000 for Harrogate Hospital and Community Hospital.
It is currently fundraising for Harrogate Hospital’s Special Baby Unit and has hit 90% of its target so far.
Every single penny goes to the hospital charity.
As well as the vinyl album, this unique charity event also offers the occasional ‘in conversation with’ guest.
In the past there have been memorable appearances by David Bowie/Beatles producer Ken Scott, Syd Barrett biographer Rob Chapman, Queen Extravaganza drummer George Farrar and Chris Simpson of Magna Carta.
