'Phenomenal live band' to make a rare appearance in 'Harrogate's coolest little venue'

A Franco-British rock 'n' roll band hailed as one of the best live bands on the planet will play a rare Harrogate gig this week.

The phenomenally good Dead Chic will take a detour on their current UK tour to play Harrogate's Blues Bar on Wednesday, June 24 - or should that be Les Bleus Bar?

Blessed with echoing guitar lines, pulsing keyboards, clanging percussion and gravelly vocals, Dead Chic describe themselves as “heavy soul".

Dark, dramatic, powerful and sexy, this four-piece outfit conjur up hints of premium era Bad Seeds meets Tom Waits meets The Cramps meets The Walkmen meets Ennio Morricone – while always remaining their own moody, quivering beast.

Core members Andy Balcon (lead vocals, UK), Damien Félix (guitar, France), Mathis Bouveret-Akengin (keyboards, France/Turkey) and Rémi Ferbus (drums, France) are playing dates in London, Bristol, Nottingham, Chester, Leeds and Newcastle in support of the rerelease of their acclaimed 2024 album Serenades & Damnation.

The deluxe edition of the album edition extends the album’s immersive and intense journey with unreleased tracks and three acoustic live session versions of album tracks.

Dead Chic will take to the stage at Harrogate's Blues Bar on Wednesday, June 24 at 9pm.

They were acclaimed by God is in the TV website as “a bit Americana, a little garage punk, a tad proggy in places with a massive slab of cinematographic grandeur.”
