New warning that road closures will return to Harrogate next month with disruption for motorists
Summer may most definitely have arrived but that does not mean Harrogate is getting a holiday from roadworks.
After a 2025 full of roadworks, road closures and temporary traffic controls in Harrogate, getting across and around town can still a challenging experience.
The next month will see the return of temporary traffic lights and road closures.
June 28: Rudding Lane, Follifoot, Spofforth with Lower Wharfedale Ward
Temporary traffic management to facilitate Harrogate Harriers 10Km road running race Rudding Lane – One Way Southbound Only – Northbound traffic via alternative signed route temporary short term closures on Pannal Road, Follifoot and Hookstone Drive to enable safe movement of event participants from minor roads/accesses to highway.
The restriction will be in place for three hours.
July 5: Oatlands Drive/ Stray Rein, Harrogate – Race for Life
Oatlands Drive and Stray Rein temporary road closures and waiting restrictions under S16A of Road Traffic Regulation Act to facilitate Race for Life 2026 Cancer Research Race for Life.
The restriction will be in place for seven hours.
July 20 to September 11: Swan Road, Harrogate
The works/closure will be undertaken in phases and access will be maintained to hotels and businesses.
Phase 1 – Road closure between Ripon Road to exit from Old Swan Hotel/Bewick Grange
Phase 2 – Road closure between the exit from Old Swan Hotel/Bewick Grange to Swan Lane
Phase 3 – Road closure between York Road to Crescent Gardens
Phase 4 – Road Closure between Crescent Gardens to Crescent Road and one-way road closure at bottom of Cornwall Road
July 29: Bilton Lane, Harrogate
Road closure for Yorkshire Water to install stop tap and chamber.
The restriction will be in place for one day.
Please note access will be maintained through the closure as there is not a suitable diversion route.
July 30: Prospect Road, Harrogate
Road closure for Northern Powergrid to excavate joint bay.
The restriction will be in place for 13 days from July 30 to August 11.
