A local charity is calling for support to help fund free bereavement counselling for children and adults.
Talking About Loss has launched a £7,500 fundraising appeal to mark eight years since founder Jacqueline Gunn’s father, Christopher Munby, died.
The charity supports people across the East Riding and North Yorkshire through 14 bereavement groups.
These include cafes, Men’s Space sessions, Walk & Talk meet-ups, and activity-based gatherings.
Ms Gunn said: "Every year, I try to turn the anniversary of Dad’s death into something positive.
"Eight years on, I miss Dad so much, but seeing the friendships and support that have grown from Talking About Loss means so much.
"Our groups give people somewhere to belong, whether they want to talk, join in an activity or simply sit with someone who understands.
"Young Hearts extends that same care to children and their families.
"Sometimes people also need specialist support.
"We want them to be able to receive that help without worrying about how they will pay for it.
"Funding is getting harder to secure, so we’re doing our own fundraising to keep that support available locally.
"Every donation matters."
The charity also runs Young Hearts, a monthly group for bereaved children and their families, offering creative support without the pressure to talk.
Funds raised through the appeal will go towards providing counselling and play therapy.
The charity is also planning another Christmas family day at Murton Park, which more than 100 families attended last year.
