A Northallerton family have opened a new greengrocer, deli and bakehouse on the town's high street, bringing fresh produce, homemade bakes and locally sourced goods to the town centre.

Alice Norton, 28, and her husband Reece Norton, 29, officially opened their new shop at 133 High Street on Friday, October 23, in the former Nick Mitchinson Greengrocer unit.

The couple, who live in Northallerton, were joined by their three-year-old son as they welcomed customers through the doors for the grand opening.

The new business will sell fresh fruit and vegetables alongside products sourced from local suppliers, including chutneys, jams, eggs, artisan bread and focaccia.

Speaking ahead of the opening, Alice said supporting local businesses was at the heart of their plans.

She said: "We live in Northallerton ourselves and wanted to support as many local businesses as possible.

"We've done markets with our previous food vans, so we knew we wanted to incorporate as many local businesses as possible.

"We just wanted to do something that supported the community.

"I can't wait for everyone to come in and see what we've got on offer.

"Everyone's really excited.

"Everyone said it's just what Northallerton needs."

Alice said the shop's range would focus on both everyday essentials and locally produced specialities.

"We'll be selling a lot of fruit and veg. We'll have chutneys, jams, we've got a local lady who's going to be supplying us with sourdough bread and focaccia," she said.

"We'll have eggs and then we'll also be doing homemade quiches, sausage rolls, cakes, tarts, things like that."

The opening marks the latest addition to Northallerton High Street, with the family hoping the business will become a hub for shoppers looking to support local producers while buying fresh, quality food.
