Questions over council's long-term plans for Spark:York

LETTER writer E Hume asks if the council will keep its word over Spark and provide a new site?

The question should be will the City of York Council keep its word and bring this “temporary” abomination to an end?

The council is under no obligation to keep on indulging a favoured enterprise.

When that totally inappropriate development was first approved it was “justified” because it would be gone after three years but the council reneged on this and granted another two years, then another three, then another five.

Moreover, the council cannot provide a new site for Spark at York Central because the council does not own that land. Only the freeholders and developers are able to do that and their plans do not contain any provision for Spark.

The feasibility study produced by Spark’s architects was on a part of York Central which is allocated as landscaped open space on the approved scheme.

Labour making same mistakes again over spending

WHAT’S wrong with the Labour Government, once again they make the same mistakes as they did when in power previously.

They never learn from their mis-management of previous times in Government where they end up spending all the money (stating so in silly notes left).

Then the Conservatives come in and are the bad boys because they have to get the country back on its feet by clawing the money back, then Labour come back in and spend it all again.
