A CELEBRATED curry house has been named a finalist in a prestigious competition in York.

Spice Clay Oven, in Hull Road, Wilberfoss, was named in The Press Best Curry House 2026 top 10.

It is run Abdul Salek, along with three business partners Shaek, Anwar and Dilwar.

Speaking about the restaurant nomination, Abdul said: "We've been open for almost three years now, and it's been wonderful.

"We are extremely happy to be named among the finalists.

"Spice Clay Oven takes pride in ensuring customers feel welcomed, valued and treated like family from the moment they open the door.

"For us, it's not about the awards and titles, it's the ability to make someone's day."

Abdul said the Spice Clay Oven business model emphasises strong customer service.

He added: "We appreciate the extra recognition and would like to thank The Press for showcasing our restaurant."
