Rail passengers travelling to and from Bradford are being warned to expect cancellations and delays throughout the day as Storm Boelo continues to impact Northern services.
Northern has issued a network-wide warning that train services across its entire network may be cancelled or delayed, with disruption expected to continue until the end of Monday.
Bradford routes affected
Passengers using services through Bradford Interchange, Low Moor, Halifax and routes linking Bradford with Leeds and Manchester are among those affected.
The operator has advised customers to check before travelling, warning that severe weather has led to widespread disruption across the network.
Services between Leeds, Bradford, Halifax, Hebden Bridge and Manchester Victoria have been particularly affected.
Multiple cancellations on Leeds-Manchester route
A number of services linking Leeds and Manchester Victoria have been cancelled throughout the day.
These include:
- 10.12 Leeds to Manchester Victoria
- 11.12 Leeds to Manchester Victoria
- 11.57 Manchester Victoria to Leeds
- 12.12 Leeds to Manchester Victoria
- 12.57 Manchester Victoria to Leeds
- 13.57 Manchester Victoria to Leeds
Northern said some cancellations were due to train faults and breakdowns amid the ongoing disruption.
Severe weather causes network-wide problems
Northern said severe weather is continuing to affect its ability to operate services across the network.
The operator said engineers have been working overnight to repair damage to overhead lines between Preston and Bolton, while some routes are operating with reduced services and replacement road transport.
A statement from the company said: "Our advice to passengers is to check before you travel."
Bradford-Ilkley line disruption
Passengers travelling on the Bradford Forster Square to Ilkley route also faced disruption after a signalling fault between Baildon and Ilkley.
Although Network Rail later fixed the fault, Northern said services could still be subject to delays and alterations while the timetable returns to normal.
Routes between Leeds and Ilkley have also been affected.
Ticket restrictions lifted
Northern has temporarily lifted some ticket restrictions to help affected passengers complete their journeys.
Customers whose trains are cancelled can use alternative Northern services and, on some routes, travel on services operated by TransPennine Express, East Midlands Railway and LNER.
Passengers delayed by more than 15 minutes may also be eligible for compensation through Northern's Delay Repay scheme.
The rail disruption comes as West Yorkshire continues to deal with the aftermath of Storm Boelo, which has brought strong winds, fallen trees, power outages and travel disruption across the region.
