Photographer captures stunning sunrise following a weekend of storms and high winds

Bradford photographer Mark Thompson captures a vivid Monday sunrise after Storm Austen and Storm Boelo brought strong winds, rain and disruption across the UK.

A local photographer captured a stunning sunrise in Wibsey as colourful skies welcomed the start of a new week following a weekend dominated by the impacts of Storm Austen and Storm Boelo, which brought strong winds and disruption across the region.

The striking images show vibrant shades of orange, pink and gold stretching across the horizon as the sun rose on Monday morning, creating a dramatic contrast to the turbulent weather seen over the weekend.

A welcome change after a stormy weekend

Strong winds and heavy rain brought disruption across the district over the weekend as the effects of Storm Austen and Storm Boelo were felt across parts of the UK.

However, calmer conditions greeted early risers on Monday morning, with clear skies producing a spectacular sunrise that prompted photographers and residents alike to reach for their cameras.

'The weather pressed the reset button'

The images were captured at 6.40am by Bradford photographer Mark Thompson, who said the peaceful scene offered a sense of optimism following the weekend's storms.

Mr Thompson said: "I get up early for work and have my morning coffee outside to enjoy the dawn air which always seems more refreshing to start the day.

He added: "It made me feel like the weather pressed the reset button and now the storm has passed a sky like this suggests opportunity to make a fresh start to the week, to be ambitious and optimistic because each morning is a gift so don't waste it."

His photographs capture the morning sun breaking through the clouds and illuminating the sky with rich colours as daylight spread across the landscape.

Early risers treated to stunning display

For Mr Thompson, the sunrise felt symbolic after a weekend dominated by severe weather and storm-related disruption.

His images capture a moment of calm after Storm Austen, which was quickly followed by Storm Boelo, bringing further strong winds and challenging conditions across parts of the country.
