Middlesbrough property shut down for three months after Class A drugs seized

A property on West Lane in Middlesbrough has been shut for three months after Class A drugs were seized and concerns were raised over disorder.

A Middlesbrough property linked to drug activity and disorder has been shut down after concerns about its impact on the community.

Teesside Magistrates’ Court granted a three-month closure order for the West Lane address after a joint investigation by Cleveland Police and Middlesbrough Council.

Officers from the Neighbourhood Policing and Proactive teams had previously seized Class A drugs from the property.

Police said problems linked to the address were affecting nearby residents, leading officers to seek the closure order.

Inspector James Allen, of Middlesbrough’s Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “We have worked to secure this closure order from the court as a result of the problems being caused at the address for the local community.

“Law-abiding residents shouldn’t have to put up with this behaviour, and we are doing all we can to ensure that they don’t have to, and that they can go about their daily activities without having to witness the nuisance and criminal behaviour being carried out by the occupant.”

No one will be allowed to access the property during the three-month order.
