A SPECTACULAR light show will go ahead tonight after a historic site in North Yorkshire has reopened following Storm Boelo.
Following site assessments carried out this morning, organisers of Illuminated Whitby Abbey announced that the popular light trail event will proceed as planned this evening despite concerns over recent storm conditions.
In a statement issued on social media, an English Heritage spokesperson said: "We're pleased to confirm that we'll be opening this evening as planned. The site is now open again as well.
"Thank you so much for your patience and understanding over the last few days. We can't wait to welcome you back to Whitby Abbey for a magical evening."
The announcement comes just days after organisers were forced to cancel Illuminated Whitby Abbey events due to severe weather linked to Storm Austen and the approaching Storm Boelo.

Earlier this week, Whitby Abbey said the attraction would be unable to open for parts of the weekend because of safety concerns caused by high winds and poor weather conditions.
The spokesperson said at the time: "We're incredibly sorry to share that, due to the severe weather conditions associated with Storm Austen and Storm Boelo, we've had to make some changes to Whitby Abbey's opening arrangements."
Storm Austen had already caused disruption across parts of southern England, while forecasters warned that the Yorkshire coast could face strong winds and heavy rain as Storm Boelo approached.
A yellow weather warning for strong winds was issued for coastal areas including Whitby, Scarborough and Bridlington.
However, after assessing conditions on site this morning, organisers have now given the green light for visitors to return to the abbey and enjoy the illuminated spectacle.
Those with tickets for tonight's event are being advised that the attraction will operate as planned.
