A free antiques valuation event is set to take place in Scarborough.
Led by TV auctioneer Charles Hanson and his team, the event will be held at Saint Catherine’s Hospice on Friday, October 30, from 2pm to 4pm.
Members of the public are invited to bring along antiques, jewellery, watches, gold and silver, textiles, and other collectibles to the educational area at the hospice for expert appraisal.
Charles Hanson, known for his appearances on BBC shows such as Bargain Hunt and Flog It!, said: "I always say every house has one great treasure squirreled away, and nothing gives me more pleasure than helping people discover what they have."
Mr Hanson heads a network of 12 auction houses across the UK and is expanding into North Yorkshire with a new location set to open in Harrogate later this year.
He is also the host of new TV series Secrets of the Auction House, which follows him and his team as they uncover forgotten antiques.
Mr Hanson said: "North Yorkshire is rich in history and heritage, making it a treasure trove for antiques.
"But we're not just looking for local antiques – sometimes the most valuable finds are the things people least expect."
He shared a memorable success story from a previous event, where a family brought along a blue-and-white Chinese vase, affectionately known as ‘Aunt Beryl’s vase.’
It turned out to be a rare piece and later sold for £800,000.
Susan Stephenson, fundraising operations coordinator at Saint Catherine’s, said: "We are thrilled to be hosting a valuation event and looking forward to welcoming everyone on Friday 30th October.
"We know the session will be very popular with lots of visitors looking forward to meeting Charles Hanson and the team – and benefitting from their expertise."
No appointment is necessary to attend the event.
Visitors can simply drop in during the scheduled hours, and the team will be on hand to assist.
If an item is deemed suitable for auction, the team will provide information on estimated value, potential sale price, and associated costs.
There will also be an option to consign items for auction on the same day.
