Ricky Gervais has announced his return to York Barbican for his brand-new tour next year.

RICKY Gervais has announced his return to York Barbican for his brand-new tour next year.

The British comedian, writer, actor, and filmmaker, best known for his work in The Office as David Brent, After Life and Derek, will be appearing in York on Monday (February 15).

He will return to the stage with his latest stand-up show, Legend, which will be filmed for his fifth Netflix special.

Speaking about this, he said: "This is my most personal show so far and because both cancel culture, and most people I knew growing up, are dead, I can really say what the f*** I want now."

Gervais has achieved international acclaim with four previous Netflix specials—Humanity, Supernature, Armageddon, and Mortality.

Each broke box office records and topped Netflix charts.

Armageddon and Mortality won him Golden Globes for Stand-Up Comedy on Television in 2024 and 2026.

Netflix has already acquired rights to stream Legend, though details of the deal remain undisclosed.

He said: "I'm not saying how much they're paying me this time, but I can say it's my favourite deal so far."

Ricky will again donate a portion of ticket sales to charity, having given £2.43 million to global animal charities from his Mortality tour in 2025.

Often described as one of the most influential British comedians since Charlie Chaplin, Ricky received the Charlie Chaplin Britannia Award for Excellence in Comedy in 2016.

He is best known for creating and starring in The Office, Extras, Derek, and the critically acclaimed Netflix series After Life.

His stand-up show at the Hollywood Bowl in 2023 set a Guinness World Record as the highest-grossing comedy performance of all time.

Ricky Gervais has hosted the Golden Globe Awards five times and has won numerous awards across his career.

The Office remains the most successful British comedy ever, broadcast in more than 90 countries and remade 14 times.

Tickets for the York Barbican show go on sale on Friday, October 30 at 10am.

They can be purchased through the venue's website.
