The founder of an engineering firm has been shortlisted for a top manufacturing award.
James McCartney, who established Enhanced Control Solutions (ECS) in 2019, is in the running for the Manufacturing Leader award at the Leeds Manufacturing Festival.
Based on the Thorp Arch Estate in Wetherby, ECS develops control systems for production lines used by some of the UK’s largest food companies.
Mr McCartney said: "We're a small team in Wetherby and we're being shortlisted alongside businesses with hundreds of staff.
"That's not luck.
"Manufacturers are being asked to do more with less, and we've spent the last year building tools that help them do exactly that.
"I'm proud of what this team has done, and I think there's more to come."
The company has been recognised at four sets of awards this year and won a national innovation award in 2025.
ECS was also named runner-up at the HSBC and FSB Small Business Growth Awards and has been shortlisted by the Food and Drink Federation.
The company recently appointed Daniel Stapley as engineering manager to lead its projects team.
