Police have launched a murder investigation after a man died from wounds suffered in an attack.

Police were called at 10.23pm on October 24 after reports that a man was being attacked with weapons outside a property on Hedley Chase, New Wortley, Leeds.

The 38-year-old man was pronounced dead shortly afterwards despite treatment from paramedics.

Detective Chief Inspector Dan Bates, of the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team, said: "A man has tragically lost his life, and we are supporting his family at this tragic time.

"From initial reports, we understand that four people who were armed with weapons carried out a sustained attack on the victim.

"We are working extremely hard to identify those individuals.

"We have significant resources working to get answers for his family and ensure that those responsible face justice for their actions.

"This was a targeted and isolated attack; we are appealing for anyone who may have been involved to come forward and provide details to us."

A police scene remains in place as detectives continue their enquiries.
