A County Durham footpath is set to close for nearly three weeks for reconstruction work.

The 80-metre path linking Featherstone and Cotherstone roads in Newton Hall is due to close on Monday, November 9, 2026.

Durham County Council is closing the footpath under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, banning pedestrians while the work is carried out.

The work will improve the stepped footpath and is expected to finish by November 28.

Pedestrians can use other footpath links between Cotherstone and Featherstone roads, north and south of the closure.

Signs at the site will give updates if the closure dates change.

The closure notice was published on Thursday, October 22.
