Traffic restrictions are set to be introduced in Stockton to allow the safe operation of a fireworks display.

StocktonCouncil proposes to make a Temporary Traffic Regulation Order to ensure public safety and prevent damage to roads.

The restrictions come in anticipation of the Stockton fireworks display and will take effect from October 29.

A number of roads within the borough will be temporarily closed, with traffic management signs in place to inform users.

Temporary clearways will be created on some roads, while certain reserved parking spaces and Hackney Carriage stands will be suspended.

An existing no-right-turn restriction will also be temporarily lifted.

In addition, the Millennium Footbridge, Infinity Footbridge, and Bishop Street Footbridge will be temporarily closed.

Stockton Fireworks display will return to the riverside on Sunday, November 1 , alongside a full day of entertainment for all ages, including a funfair, food and drink stalls, and live music.

The event runs from 12pm to 9pm, with fireworks at 6.30pm to a modern orchestral soundtrack.

The restrictions are anticipated to be in place until November 3.

Pedestrian and emergency access will be maintained, except in areas where it is deemed unsafe.

The council has warned that bus services may be affected during the period, and temporary traffic management arrangements will be in operation throughout the event.

The full list of affected roads and specific details of the restrictions can be viewed in the draft order on the council’s website under the traffic orders section.

An option is provided for the public to give feedback on the notice.
