A North East visitor attraction could soon be allowed to serve alcohol after an application was lodged for a new premises licence.

The request is for the Billingham Beck Visitor Centre in Billingham Beck Valley County Park.

If granted, the licence would permit the supply of alcohol both on and off the premises.

The proposed hours for alcohol sale are from 8am to 10pm, Monday to Sunday.

The application, submitted by Peter James Durham of Crust K, was published on October 5.

Residents and interested parties have until October 29 to submit written representations regarding the application.

These can be sent to the Licensing Service at Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council, Dunedin House, Columbia Drive, Thornaby, Stockton-on-Tees, TS17 6BJ.

The application can be viewed at the licensing office from Monday to Friday, 9am to 4pm, excluding bank holidays, or on the council's website.

The council has warned that it is an offence to make a false statement in connection with a licensing application, with an unlimited fine for those convicted.
