All Creatures Great and Small star lets slip strict rule on set for anyone with speaking roles
Samuel West appeared on Alan Titchmarsh's Love Your Weekend this morning and shared some behind the scenes stories from the show
All Creatures Great and Small fans have been treated to a behind-the-scenes secret from the beloved show.
The family drama series recently aired the finale of its seventh season, which saw Samuel West's character Siegfried Farnon face one of his toughest choices yet; go ahead and marry Dorothy, or follow his heart and profess his love for housekeeper Mrs Hall. The series will return with a Christmas special later this year with fans hoping to see a new romance play out between the pair.
This morning (October 25), actor Samuel appeared on Love Your Weekend with Alan Titchmarsh and let slip some more details about life on the All Creatures set, including a particularly heartwarming tradition the cast indulge in.
During a discussion about alternative career paths, Samuel mentioned he had always wanted to be a DJ, ambitions he still hopes to realise. It prompted host Alan to press him further on why he'd want to move away from acting.

"Sam, you get these amazing roles which you perform so beautifully," Alan pointed out. "What is the greater attraction in being a DJ?"
"I'm tiresomely interested in my own musical taste and I want to foist it upon everyone else," Samuel joked, before revealing the secret on-set rule the cast have.
"I control the speaker in the All Creatures Great and Small make-up truck first-thing in the morning and I release a playlist every year which I'm about to do for this season. Fairly eclectic stuff that keeps us up."
He continued: "We have a rule that anybody that gets a speaking role gets to put one thing on it, and whenever anyone dies... so we put a Neil Sedaka song on this year, next year we'll put Dolly Parton because she died in the gap. So there are some nice memories in there and also stuff that I would never have thought of."
Love Your Weekend with Alan Titchmarsh airs Sunday mornings from 9.30am on ITV1 and ITVX.All Creatures Great and Small is available to stream on 5.
