A total of 161,400 customers are currently without power in the UK due to the impacts of Storm Austen and Boelo.

The Energy Networks Association (ENA) has said that network operators have been working hard to "rapidly reconnect customers", but "access to certain areas remains difficult due to fallen trees and other transport disruptions".

The association said another 677,300 customers have been reconnected, following Storms Austen and Boelo.

Lawrence Slade, chief executive of the ENA, said: "Network operators had anticipated that Storm Boelo would bring disruption to households across northern areas of the UK and prepared by moving staff and equipment into place, ready to respond to the worst of the damage."
