Hundreds of homes have been left without power as Storm Boelo continues to batter York.

More than 300 customers are without power in the Strensall area on Sunday morning (October 25).

Homes have also been left without power in the Osbaldwick, Derwenthorpe and Dunnington areas.

There are further outages in the Sheriff Hutton area, as well as in the North York Moors and on the North Yorkshire coast.

Northern Powergrid said its teams are working to restore power “as quickly as we can”.

The firm’s director of customer services, Louise Lowes, said: “We’ll do our best to support you and get your power back on as soon as we can.

“In the meantime, if you need help, tell us – we are here to listen and support our customers whenever they need us.”

A yellow warning for wind is in place in North Yorkshire until 9pm on Sunday as Storm Boelo hits the county bringing gusts of up to 60mph.

The Met Office warned travel disruption is expected along with power cuts.

Flying debris is also "likely" and the storm will "probably" bring some damage to buildings, such as tiles blown from roofs, the forecaster said.
