A festive theatre show for children is coming to York this winter.

The Enormous Christmas Pudding will be performed at York Theatre Royal’s Studio from December 16 to 31.

Created by Story Craft Theatre, the show promises a magical woodland adventure packed with puppetry, music, and imaginative storytelling.

Janet-Emiy Cosgriff and Cassie Vallance from Story Craft Theatre said: "For some children, coming to see The Enormous Christmas Pudding will be their very first trip to the theatre, and that’s a really lovely thing to be part of.

"We want every child and adult to feel welcome, included and completely swept up in the adventure."

Inspired by a classic folk tale, the story celebrates friendship, determination, and teamwork as a group of characters join forces to create a surprise of enormous proportions.

The production blends visual storytelling, puppetry, shadow puppetry, Makaton signing, and an original musical score to fully immerse young audiences in the story.

Makaton-friendly Story Craft Theatre aims to create inclusive performances that encourage children to dream, communicate, and enjoy the magic of theatre.

The company is already well known in York for its popular Crafty Tales sessions, which run during term time at the Theatre Royal.
