Two punk bands are coming to York in double headline tour

Two era-defining punk bands have teamed up for a co-headline tour – and they’re coming to York.

For over five decades, Skids and Theatre Of Hate have blazed a trail for punk and post-punk and are still firmly flying the flag in 2026.

Skids + Theatre Of Hate are at The Crescent in York onWednesday 9 December 2026.

The shows will see both bands digging deep into their rich catalogues as they go head to head – and it’s not the first time the band’s creative minds have joined forces.

Richard Jobson of Skids said: “We’re off on tour again with one of my favourite bands again Theatre of Hate… I just feel that the way things and in the overall scheme of things, this is going to be a great night out.

“Skids. Theatre of Hate. A cracking night out. I’m really looking forward to it”.

The Skids formed in 1977 in their hometown of Dunfermline, Scotland by Richard Jobson, Stuart Adamson, Bill Simpson and Tom Kellichan. After releasing an independent single the band were played by John Peel, supported The Clash in concert and then were signed to Virgin Records in 1978.

The current Skids line up sees the lineup stripped back to an explosive 4 piece with Richard Jobson, Peter Byrchmore (Membranes), Hernandez (Drums) & Connor Whyte (Guitar).

In 1980, Kirk Brandon formed THEATRE OF HATE from the ashes of heralded punk band The Pack. Joining Kirk on vocals were notable punk musicians Stan Stammers and Luke Rendall, along with old school friend, Steve Guthrie and Canadian born John “Boy” Lennard, who revolutionised the band’s sound with his haunting sax lines.
