A street in York city centre was cordoned off for several hours this morning due to a police incident.
Silver Street near Shambles Market was taped off and a police guard put in place.
There are unconfirmed reports that a body was found on the street.
Incident location
Due to the street closure, traders at York Market had to be diverted in through Newgate at about 7.30am.
The cordon has now been lifted and the market is trading normally.
Traders said a pile of clothes was visible behind the cordon and that crime scene investigators had been called to the scene.
We have asked North Yorkshire Police for more details and will update when they come through.
