A cannabis farm containing 71 plants has been discovered inside a County Durham property after police received information from members of the public.
Seaham Neighbourhood Policing Team attended an address on Church Street, Seaham, last week and uncovered the cultivation.
Police seized a total of 71 cannabis plants, which have since been destroyed.
The force said the property's electricity supply had also been illegally bypassed, creating a serious fire risk to occupants, neighbouring businesses and nearby properties.
Northern Powergrid attended the scene and made the property safe.
Following the discovery, Seaham and Easington Police thanked residents for reporting concerns and urged people to continue providing information about suspected drug activity.
The force said potential signs of a property being used to grow cannabis can include a building appearing vacant or rarely occupied, unusual visitors or vehicles arriving at all hours, deliveries of lighting equipment or fertiliser, constant noise from extractor fans, strong smells and ongoing internal building work.
Anyone with concerns about suspected drug activity in their area is urged to contact police via 101 or online.
