A North East Girl Guides group raised £200 for the RNLI after learning about lifeboat crews’ work and water safety.
The 34th Hartlepool Girl Guides collected 20p coins in Smartie tubes to raise the money.
During a visit to Hartlepool RNLI’s Ferry Road lifeboat station, the girls handed the donation to volunteer crew members.

Rachel Cornelius, Girl Guide leader, said: "The girls really enjoyed the visit.
"They were trying on kit, toured the all-weather and inshore lifeboats and learned a lot about sea safety at the same time.
"Before the visit we collected 20p pieces in Smartie tubes which raised £200 for the charity.
"The girls were also presented with their Mayday Mayday badge.

"The Mayday Mayday Badge is a water safety challenge badge created in partnership with the RNLI. It teaches members of all ages—Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and Rangers—crucial water survival and safety skills."
Jimmy Slaughter, Hartlepool RNLI lifeboat visits officer, said: "It was a pleasure to host the group, who bombarded us with questions throughout the visit.
"At the end of the day, I'm sure we got the sea safety message across. On behalf of all the volunteer crew, can I say thank you for the very generous donation, which will help save lives at sea."
