Traffic restrictions across the North East town have been overhauled in a major administrative update.
Stockton Council has introduced new traffic orders covering moving traffic, weight limits, parking and speed limits.
The changes will digitise and streamline traffic management across the borough, replacing all previous traffic orders.
The updated regulations introduce map-based schedules, clarify the powers used to make the orders and revise key definitions.
Published on October 19, the orders will cover the entire administrative area.
Bright Street Car Park is exempt from the new regulations.
The changes will not alter the roads or how existing restrictions are enforced.
The council said all restrictions will continue under valid traffic orders.
The council has published the sealed orders, notices, maps showing affected streets, revoked orders and its reasons for making them.
They can be viewed during normal office hours at Stockton Customer Service Centre and Central Library, The Square, Stockton-on-Tees, or on the council’s website under ‘Traffic Orders’.
- For more notices affecting YOUR area, visit our Public Notice Portal - Public Notices from The Northern Echo ( publicnoticeportal.uk). More information on this application can be found here.
Residents can challenge any order, except the Speed Limits Order, or any of its provisions in the High Court.
Any challenge must be made within six weeks of the order being issued.
The council said the changes aim to create a more efficient, consistent road network.
The new orders replace the old ones so every restriction is backed by a valid traffic order.
