Five young men sentenced after brutal Bradford attacks on teenagers and lone visitor

A judge has sentenced five young men for their roles in three separate incidents in Bradford which involved the targeting of innocent victims.

Two of the complainants were teenage boys and the third was a man who had travelled to Bradford from the North East on a work trip.

One boy aged 15 was surrounded by a large group of males at the Bradford Interchange back in May 2023 and after handing over his bag he was then forced to withdraw cash from an ATM.

Bradford Crown Court heard that a few days later the second victim had been in the city centre when his bag and tablet were snatched by a male who was again in a group of young men.

Prosecutor Fen Greatley-Hirsch described how the complainant managed to confront the group and demand his property back, but one of the group then asked: "Shall we do him?"

The outnumbered man tried to fight back as he was punched and kicked and the incident was stopped by a member of the public who intervened.

But Mr Greatley-Hirsch said the complainant was sat down composing himself when the group returned and launched a second attack on him.

Judge Kirstie Watson watched CCTV footage of the violent attack which involved one defendant armed with a baseball bat hitting out at the man while he was on the ground.

The victim was treated in hospital for extensive bruising and Mr Greatley-Hirsch said he was fortunate not to have suffered any broken bones.

The final incident took place in February this year when a 16-year-old was attacked in the Toller Lane area.

As the teenager cowered on the ground after being chased he was punched and kicked by Fahed Nouaimi.

During the attack Nouaimi hit the teenager on the head with an aftershave bottle before his older brother Ahmad Al-Nouaimi joined in with the violence.

Mr Greatley-Hirsch said the teenager suffered a broken nose and other injuries and in a victim impact statement he said he had suffered flashbacks of the attack.

"I still cannot understand why the defendants attacked me. I hadn’t done anything to them or their family," he said in his statement.

The court heard that the teenager was still awaiting surgery to fix the injury to his nose.

Fahed Nouaimi, now 19, and his 22-year-old brother, both of no fixed abode, pleaded guilty to a charge of attempting to cause grievous bodily harm with intent in relation to the attack on the 16-year-old boy.

Fahed Nouaimi, 21-year-old Ayman Albadien, of Fraisthorpe Mead, Bradford, Kenny Abdoul Katie, 20, of Raeburn Street, Sheffield, and Mohammed Fakraoui, 20, of Brearley Avenue, Milton Keynes all admitted offences of affray and assault in relation to the attack on the man visiting Bradford in May 2023.

Albadien also admitted possession of an offensive weapon in relation to his use of the baseball bat.

Fakraoui pleaded guilty to a further affray charge relating to the incident at the Bradford Interchange.

Today, Fahed Nouaimi and his brother, who are Syrian nationals, both received custodial sentences for their offending.

Fahed Nouaimi was sentenced to a total of 37 months in a young offender institution while his brother was jailed for 32 months.

Speaking about their attack on the teenager in February this year Judge Watson said the victim had been punched and stamped on and Fahed Nouaimi had struck the boy on the head with an aftershave bottle.

She said the attack may have been the result of mistaken identity, but Ahmad Al-Nouaimi had joined in rather than stopping his younger brother.

The judge said it was a matter of luck that the boy had not suffered very serious injuries.

Fakraoui was given a 19-month custodial sentence, suspended for two years, for his part in the affray at the Bradford Interchange.

He is also banned from coming to Bradford for 12 months and must do 200 hours unpaid work.

Albadien also received an 18-month sentence suspended for two years and he must do 250 hours unpaid work.

Karim had his custodial sentence of 15 months suspended for two years and must do 150 hours unpaid work.
