BRADFORD has been ranked among the worst places to exercise in Yorkshire and the Humber.
A new study by adult services provider AdultWork, which assessed all 294 local authorities in England on 15 indicators of exercise accessibility, placed Bradford second-from-bottom in the region and 263rd nationally.
The analysis considered factors such as the number of gyms, leisure centres, swimming pools, parkrun events, and access to green space.
A spokesperson for AdultWork said: "Where you live has a big effect on how easy it is to fit exercise into everyday life.
"A gym, a pool or a traffic-free path close to home makes it far simpler to build a regular workout routine.
"Regular exercise does a lot for how people feel about themselves, and a gym class or sports club is one of the best ways to meet new people.
"Living somewhere that makes exercise easy can make a real difference to both."
Kirklees ranked last in the region and 270th in England, with the fewest gyms and leisure centres per resident in Yorkshire and the Humber at just 1.1 per 10,000 people.
Leeds performed somewhat better, ranking sixth in the region and 182nd nationally.
