A new health facility has won a national design award.
The Endoscopy Unit at Bradford Royal Infirmary, which opened in March and is one of the largest NHS schemes of its kind in the country, received the New Build Project of the Year award at the Healthcare Estates IHEEM Awards.
It was recognised for its focus on patient dignity, infection control and innovative use of patient pods.
Sarah Jowett, consultant gastroenterologist and clinical lead for endoscopy, said: "The whole Endoscopy team is absolutely thrilled to have won this award, especially because we were commended for our focus on patient dignity, infection control and the innovative use of the patient pods.
"We’re all so proud of the unit, which is providing a fantastic service for patients and is a great place to work, and this is the icing on the cake for us.
"I’d like to thank everyone who has been involved in this project – it was a massive team effort."
The unit features eight procedure rooms and private pods for patients before and after their procedures, each with an ensuite.
It was designed and built by Robertson Construction.
During the build, the project generated over £13m in social value, with over 70 per cent of spend with the local supply chain.
