TRAIN services will be suspended for nine days during major improvement works.
No trains will run between Leeds and York from Saturday, October 24 to Sunday, November 1, as part of the Transpennine Route Upgrade (TRU).
The closure will allow for the installation of a new railway bridge in Church Fenton.
Adam Sellers, senior sponsor for the TRU, said: "We’re now in the final phase of installing the new Common Lane bridge following two successful weekends of work in Church Fenton.
"This nine-day closure allows our teams to carry out the reconstruction safely, and will take us a step closer to electrifying this section of the route."
The replacement is being done a year ahead of schedule because the existing bridge is too low to support planned overhead line equipment for electrification.
Rail replacement buses will run between Leeds and York, with additional stops to serve stations along the route.
Carl Harland, TRU customer lead for Northern, said: "While work is taking place at Church Fenton, trains will not be able to run between Leeds and York via Garforth.
"A direct rail replacement bus will operate between the two cities and is the quickest way for customers to travel."
