Events and popular attractions across County Durham and the North East have been cancelled as Storm Boelo threatens to bring strong winds and heavy rain this weekend.
The disruption comes as a yellow weather warning for wind is brought forward to 12pm on Saturday (October 24), remaining in force until 9pm on Sunday (October 25).
Darlington and County Durham are among the areas covered, while the strongest conditions are expected further north.
With thousands of people potentially making plans for the weekend, several markets and attractions have already announced cancellations and closures.
Which events have been cancelled due to Storm Boelo?
Darlington Outdoor Market
Darlington Outdoor Market has reportedly been cancelled on Saturday (October 24) because of the severe wind gusts forecast as Storm Boelo moves across the region.
The cancellation was announced ahead of the weekend's worsening weather, with strong winds expected across the North East.
Richmond Artisan Market
Richmond Artisan Market has been reported as cancelled on Sunday (October 25) because of forecast high wind gusts.
The Little Bird Made event had been scheduled to run from 10am until 3pm in Richmond Market Place and was due to be the final Richmond artisan market of 2026.
The Forbidden Corner
Popular North Yorkshire attraction The Forbidden Corner, near Leyburn, will close on Sunday (October 25) because of the severe weather forecast.
The mostly outdoor attraction, known for its labyrinth of tunnels, chambers and follies, said it would close for safety reasons, with winds of up to 60mph forecast.
A spokesperson said: "We apologise for the disappointment and inconvenience, but we want to make sure your visit is memorable for the right reasons, not because you blew away."
"Stay safe, keep dry, and we'll see you back in the labyrinth once the winds die down."
Fountains by Floodlight
The National Trust has cancelled the Fountains by Floodlight experience at Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal on Saturday due to the stormy weather and high winds forecast.
The evening event was due to see visitors explore the abbey ruins after dark, alongside live music, street food and guided twilight tours.
Those who have already booked tickets are being contacted by email and will receive automatic refunds.
Train passengers warned of disruption
People planning to travel this weekend are also being urged to check their journeys before setting off.
Northern says Storms Austen and Boelo are expected to affect its network, with strong winds capable of bringing trees, branches and other debris onto railway lines.
The operator has announced that there will be a reduction in the number of trains running on several routes between Saturday (October 24) and Monday (October 26).
Passengers are being advised to check their journey before leaving and allow extra time, as services could be amended or changed at short notice.
What to expect from Storm Boelo

The bad weather could cause travel disruption, while people are being advised to secure loose outdoor items and keep up to date with the latest forecasts.
Further cancellations could also be announced as conditions develop.
