A dad-of-two who kicked his ex-girlfriend in the stomach in an attack "rampage” leaving her "petrified" has been jailed.
Daniel Lloyd launched a "prolonged and repeated” attack on his former partner at her home and called her a “grass” after she phoned the police to report him on June 9.
The 29-year-old kicked a door of its hinges, launched a bottle of Smirnoff Ice at a glass window and smashed it before trying to pull panels off her garden fence to hurl at the victim.
The incident left the woman feeling “unsafe in her own home”.
The attack took place after Lloyd, from Coulby Newham, Middlesbrough, bumped into his former partner at a sunbed shop and started speaking about their daughter.
They then went back to her home for a chat.
However, after arriving, Lloyd got into an argument with the victim’s brother over the phone after being incorrectly labelled a sexual abuser, Teesside Crown Court heard on Tuesday (October 20).
Charlie Thompson, prosecuting, said Lloyd then “kicked her in her left leg, causing her to fall back onto the sofa” and “continued to kick her legs and stomach” with “full force”.
Lloyd was described as going “on a rampage of criminal damage”, kicking her door from its hinges and launching a bottle at a glass window pane.
“He was screaming throughout all of this, threatening to smash up the house, smash up her brother’s house, and her grandmother’s house,” Mr Thompson said.
Lloyd eventually made off over the rear fence and police arrived shortly after.
But the defendant then returned, asking for a lighter before he once again “started to make threats” and tried to “pull the panels off the fence and throw them at her”.
He called the victim a “grass” and kicked her TV before leaving again. He then returned for a third time, but once he noticed police were on the drive, he made off.
Days after the incident, Lloyd repeatedly called her, and on one day rang her 25 times in the space of an hour, Mr Thompson said.
In a victim impact statement, the woman said she felt she was forced to flee: “We have a little girl together and I need to protect her from him.”
Paul Abrahams, mitigating, said “everything was amicable” before information that was “materially incorrect” about Lloyd was relayed to him.
“When it was said to him [that] he was a sexual abuser, it caused him to become upset,” he said. “She was misguidedly repeating what she had been told by others.”
Lloyd, who was under a suspended prison sentence order at the time, previously admitted assault occasioning actual bodily harm, harassment, and criminal damage.
With 26 convictions for 50 offences, eight of which were violence related, Recorder Peter Makepeace said the “can’t accept that this offending is out of character”.
He did accept that the incident was “in some way triggered in emotional response”.

Lloyd, who appeared via video link from HMP Holme House but was previously of Hollowfield, in Coulby Newham, was jailed for 23 months.
“It was a prolonged and repeated assault,” Judge Makepeace said. “The court has given you chance after chance after chance.
“I think you are making progress in custody. You are in exactly the right frame of mind that you can benefit from constructive input. I wish you luck.
“You are a father of two children. They need a role model. You have to start putting them first.”
