A public footpath could be diverted under plans to alter its route across farmland.
Stockton Council made the order to divert Footpath No 4 Whitton on October 13 under the Highways Act 1980.
The proposed changes involve realigning the path from point C at GR NZ4386, 5228 to point D at GR NZ4383, 5229, and then to point E at GR NZ4382, 5229, approximately 107m north of Townend Farm.
The new path will begin from point A at GR NZ4382, 5229, approximately 45m north of Eastfield Gardens, and will wind its way in a north-easterly direction to point B at GR NZ4383, 5230, at the eastern corner of the field boundary.
From there, it will cross the field to the footbridge at point C (GR NZ4386, 5228), rejoining Footpath No 9, Whitton.
These changes will be reflected in the Borough of Stockton Definitive Map, which will be modified to delete the existing public right of way and add the new footpath.
The Borough of Stockton Definitive Statement will also be updated with a description of the amended route.
The council has made a copy of the order and order map available on its website.
Residents can also view these documents free of charge at the Stockton Customer Service Centre, located in the Central Library, The Square, Stockton-on-Tees, TS18 1LD, during normal office hours.
