It forms part of Scotland’s first joint university-college undergraduate school, established through a partnership between UWS and New College Lanarkshire (NCL).

Launched in June 2024, the UWS-NCL Undergraduate School has more than 1,000 students enrolled across a range of technical and vocational degree programmes, including cyber security, dental nursing, law, sound production and computer networking.

The new hub will provide a dedicated centre for teaching, student engagement and collaboration between college and university staff.

The opening ceremony was attended by students, staff and dignitaries, including Alyn Smith MSP, Scotland’s Minister for Innovation, Technology and Tertiary Education.

The partnership aims to make degree-level education more accessible while helping meet the skills needs of Lanarkshire and the wider regional economy.

New College Lanarkshire is one of Scotland’s largest colleges, with campuses in Motherwell, Coatbridge and Cumbernauld. It serves more than 10,000 students across the region.
