A new education and community campus has officially opened in Faifley, West Dunbartonshire, bringing schools, childcare, a library and community facilities together at one site.

Faifley Campus opened on October 22 with a ceremony featuring songs, a brass ensemble and a dance performance choreographed by pupils.

The dance, titled The Cochno Stone, celebrated local heritage, community and belonging. The building’s design was also inspired by the historic Cochno Stone, a prehistoric carved stone associated with the area.

Built on the site of the former St Joseph’s Primary School, the campus brings together Edinbarnet Primary School, St Joseph’s Primary School, Faifley Early Learning and Childcare Centres and the Rainbow base.

The facility also houses an Education Resource Service, replaces the former Skypoint Centre and includes a new community library.

Outdoor facilities include an all-weather sports pitch, a multi-use games area and play spaces intended to support physical activity and outdoor learning.

“The campus brings together education, early learning and childcare, additional support needs provision, a new library and community facilities in one accessible location.

“It is a fantastic example of our commitment to providing the very best opportunities for our young people while strengthening the communities they live in.”

Councillor John Millar, vice convener of educational services, said: “I am delighted to see this ambitious project completed and officially opened.
