Berlin is one of Germany’s most important centres for figure skating. Amongst others, the capital is home to the two top German pairs, Minerva Hase and Nikita Volodin, and Annika Hocke and Robert Kunkel. In the future, the new Olympic discipline, Synchro9, is also set to be established at the Berlin national training centre. “We welcome the endorsement of our three national training centres, which are of central importance for the development of our sport in the new Olympic cycle,” said DEU Sports Director Jens ter Laak. In the coming years, plans include improving training conditions and expanding the coaching teams.
Berlin is to remain the national centre for figure skating
Good news for figure skating in Berlin: the national training centre will remain accredited until the end of 2030 for the time being. This will also benefit Germany’s top pairs as they prepare for the Olympics.
