An unusual decorating technique involving large quantities of tea has been used to transform the interior of Amanda Owen's historic Yorkshire Dales farmhouse.

The former farmhouse, close to the Owen family's home at Ravenseat, has undergone extensive renovation after standing empty for decades.

But while the family is bringing the building back into use, the aim is also to retain its traditional character.

Using a spray gun, she treats the plaster with large quantities of tea to create a warmer, aged appearance.

The technique is intended to soften the look of new plaster and help it blend with the historic surroundings.

It is one of several distinctive approaches being used during the restoration of the old property.

Elsewhere, carpenters Dan and Philip are busy laying oak floorboards as the building begins to resemble a finished home.

The renovation has been a major undertaking for Amanda, Clive and their nine children.

The family bought Anty John's in 2020 and have since faced a series of challenges as they work to restore the property.

The latest scenes show how the project is moving beyond major structural repairs and into the finishing stages.

For viewers, the tea-staining technique provides an unusual insight into the work involved in giving a historic Yorkshire farmhouse a traditional appearance.
