Several roads, footpaths, and bridleways are set to be closed or restricted in North Yorkshire.

The disruptions are due to repair works, new connections, forestry operations, and safety measures.

Highfield Road in Malton will be closed to all vehicles for a temporary period of two weeks between November 9 and December 31, 2026.

The closure is necessary for the repair and replacement of pedestrian guardrails.

Traffic signs will indicate the closure period, and a local alternative route will be provided.

High Lane in Beadlam will also be temporarily closed to all vehicles from November 9 to November 18, 2026.

This is to allow for new connection works.

As with Highfield Road, traffic signs will indicate the closure period, and a local alternative route will be signed on site where appropriate.

In Hovingham and Fryton, certain public footpaths and bridleways will be closed to pedestrians, cyclists, and horse traffic for six months from November 9, 2026 to May 8, 2027.

This is to ensure public health and safety during forestry operations.

Alternative routes will be provided, and residents can contact Duncan Leckie, Forest Manager at Castle Howard, for more information.

Mill Lane in Birdsall will have a temporary speed restriction of 20mph due to an uneven road surface.

The restriction, which comes into effect on November 9, 2026 until May 8, 2028, will be enforced with notices and signs.

For more information, residents can contact the North Yorkshire Customer Service Centre.

Lastly, an experimental order has been made for School Streets at Norton Community Primary School in Malton.

Motor vehicles will be prohibited on Grove Street from its junction with Wood Street for its entirety, Monday to Friday, 8.15am to 9am, and 2.45pm to 3.30pm during school term time only.

The order, which comes into force on October 23, 2026, will last for an experimental period of 18 months.

A copy of the order, along with a map showing the affected road, can be inspected at County Hall, Northallerton, and viewed online at North Yorkshire Council's roadworks map and traffic regulation orders page.

The council is considering whether the provisions of the order should be continued indefinitely.

Residents have six months from the order's commencement to object to its indefinite continuation.

Objections must be made in writing, stating the grounds, and sent to the Area 4 Kirby Misperton Highways Office or submitted via email or the council's website by April 23, 2027.
