Dramatic police footage shows a teenage driver's dangerous 90mph police pursuit that came to a crashing end after a trail of destruction that caused more than £10,000 worth of damage.

Adam Tanveer, 19, was sentenced at Bradford Crown Court on October 8 after admitting dangerous driving and driving without insurance.

The chase saw Tanveer reach speeds of up to 90mph while attempting to evade officers.

Police later describing the incident as one that put members of the public at significant risk.

Pursuit ended after multiple collisions

Tanveer was driving a white Audi Q2 along Pellon Lane in Halifax when he came across a marked police vehicle.

The court heard the vehicle was not insured for him to drive.

However, instead of stopping as advised, Tanveer accelerated away, prompting officers to pursue him through Halifax.

Video footage released by West Yorkshire Police shows the Audi speeding through streets before the pursuit eventually came to an end following a series of collisions.

Pedestrians forced to leap out of the way

During the pursuit, Tanveer drove through Shibden Park, where two pedestrians were forced to jump clear to avoid being hit.

He then collided with a single-decker bus, tearing off its bumper, before continuing to drive dangerously.

The chase finally ended when the Audi crashed into a van and another Audi carrying a man and his daughter.

Despite the dramatic scenes, nobody was injured.

Police said the total cost of the damage caused during the incident exceeded £10,000.

Teen handed suspended sentence

Barrister John Bottomley, for Tanveer, said his client deeply regretted his actions and was someone who had made an immature and grave mistake that day.

He received a 13-month detention sentence in a young offenders' institution, suspended for 18 months.

He was also ordered to complete 200 hours of unpaid work and banned from driving for two years.

'Stop before it's too late'

Following the sentencing, Sergeant Andrew Bingham, of Calderdale's Neighbourhood Impact Team, said: "This is yet another example of an offender putting members of the public at significant risk simply to avoid taking responsibility for their actions.

"As a result of the defendant's behaviour, numerous members of the public going about their daily business had their vehicles damaged, causing considerable inconvenience and financial cost, as well as impacting the wider community of Halifax.

"Our message is clear: stop before it's too late.

"A moment's decision to evade the police can have devastating consequences.

"We are committed to making Halifax a safer place by proactively identifying offenders, bringing them to justice, and protecting the public from those who choose to disregard the law."
