A new extra care housing scheme is nearing completion.
Mowat Gardens, located in Cleckheaton, will open this autumn and offer 80 apartments designed to support independent living for people aged 55 and over.
The development is being delivered by Housing 21 in partnership with Kirklees Council and Homes England.
Councillor Phillip James, cabinet member for housing and physical communities, said: "It’s fantastic to see Mowat Gardens nearing completion and to know that the first residents will soon be able to call this new scheme home.
"This is exactly the kind of opportunity we want to create through our Housing Growth work: identifying council-owned land, working with the right partners and turning local housing need into high-quality homes that make a real difference to people’s lives.
"Mowat Gardens will provide modern, accessible homes where older people can continue to live independently while having care and support available when they need it.
"It is also a strong example of how Kirklees Council can use its land, funding and partnership role to unlock investment and deliver better housing choices for local people."
Located within Kenmore Drive, the scheme was identified through Kirklees Council’s Housing Growth programme as a key site for specialist, accessible housing.
The development includes 61 one-bedroom and 19 two-bedroom apartments, all available for rent.
Residents will benefit from tailored care and support, allowing them to live independently in a safe and supportive environment.
Communal facilities include a lounge, activity room, laundry, gardens, guest room, café, and hair salon.

Councillor Michael Simmons, cabinet member for adults, social care and public health communities, said: "Mowat Gardens is an important addition to the range of housing and support available to older people in Kirklees.
"Good quality, accessible housing can play a vital role in helping people maintain their independence and wellbeing as their needs change."
The scheme has been supported by more than £6 million in grant funding from Homes England, with an additional £500,000 from Kirklees Council.
The council also transferred the land to Housing 21 and secured nomination rights to ensure many of the homes are offered to people on the council’s housing register.
Chantelle Downes, regional extra care manager at Housing 21, said: "We are delighted to reach this exciting milestone with the opening of our show home at Mowat Gardens.
"The show home offers a first glimpse of the high-quality properties and vibrant community we are creating, and we look forward to welcoming prospective residents and visitors to see the scheme for themselves ahead of welcoming our first residents early 2027."
