PLANS to open a takeaway have been welcomed as a boost for a Yorkshire village.
One resident said it would be a 'great asset' to Hellifield, north-west of Skipton.
Wayne Harding, owner of village shop, H's of Hellifield, Main Road, has submitted plans for the change of use of the next-door property.
The application seeks full permission for the change of use of the ground floor former shop at Victoria Buildings to a hot food takeaway and installation of an external extraction flue.
It is planned that the takeaway will be open Monday to Friday, from 9am to 11pm; on Saturdays, from 9am to 11pm; and on Sundays and bank holidays, from 11am to 11pm.
Hellifield Parish Council has raised no objection to the scheme, and several people have given their support on the council's planning portal.

One wrote: "In almost 20 years, I have seen a good number of Hellifield's businesses come and go and the loss of the chippy, the butty van and the pizza shop has left villagers with few options for takeaway food without a drive to a nearby town.
"I wholeheartedly support the application and believe that a takeaway would be welcomed by many in the village and beyond."
Another commented: "It would be great to have a takeaway in the village. Now the pub has closed, there is no where else to get food. This would be a great asset to the village and benefit to all residents. It would also make good use of space in the shop currently unused."
Another said: "The takeaway is a very good thing for Hellifield as we have lost so many amenities in the last few years. It will also help people in the village because at the moment we have to travel for any takeaway food.
"Being on the Main Road will make it more visible to passing trade and help support it along will the villagers."
