British Army bands will perform at a North East venue for the first time, presenting a day of free music, education and interactive entertainment.

The event will take place at The Fire Station in Sunderland on November 25, and will feature two performances by bands from Catterick.

A spokesperson for the event said: "We are delighted to bring the British Army bands to The Fire Station for the very first time.

"These free performances will showcase not only the outstanding musical talent within the Army but also offer a unique opportunity for audiences, particularly young people, to engage with technology, creativity and teamwork through the exciting world of Operation CyberBeat."

The first performance is aimed at pupils and students from schools, colleges and universities.

It introduces young people to the British Army, its musical heritage and its wider role in national life.

Young attendees can meet Army personnel, try on ceremonial uniforms and use virtual reality to experience life as an Army musician.

Using VR headsets, participants can march with the band, conduct an orchestra and try different instruments.

The experience then moves into the auditorium for Operation CyberBeat, an immersive musical adventure in which a hostile cyber nation puts The Fire Station "under attack".

The audience must solve clues and puzzles together to restore power and complete the show.

They must use the correct answers to unlock a secure box before the final musical challenge can begin.

The event brings together music, technology, teamwork and problem-solving.

It aims to spark curiosity and creativity while showcasing careers in the British Army and wider STEM sector.

The second performance is The Beat of the Nation, an evening concert celebrating the tradition and talent of British Army musicians.
