A military family is turning its North Yorkshire home into a spooky Halloween spectacle to raise money for bereaved military children.
Shannon Kelly, 32, and her family are once again transforming their Catterick Garrison home into a Halloween wonderland, complete with an elaborate Nightmare Before Christmas-themed display, all in aid of Scotty's Little Soldiers.
The charity supports bereaved military children and young people and is close to the family's heart.

Shannon said: "When we moved into the property, which is a military property, we were told that the estate is known as Little America for Halloween."
"So we bought a load of decorations and went a bit too big on the first year and then we got the name of the 'Halloween House'."

"After that we just got bigger and bigger."
The family created the display in 2022 and has expanded it every year since, making the house a popular stop for trick-or-treaters.
Shannon said their love of Halloween and visitors’ encouragement prompted them to turn the display into a fundraiser.
She said: "I love Halloween, the kids love Halloween."

"And then in 2024, someone asked if we did it for charity.
"We didn't but we thought we should."
"Everyone comes to enjoy it, we might as well try to raise money for someone else."
Shannon says the display draws huge crowds.
"People's reactions are great, they love it a lot," Shannon said.
"We also get a lot of questions about the price of our electricity bill, but all the kids love it."
"We're hoping to raise £1,000 this year."
The family spends months designing, building and adding new features so each Halloween display is bigger than the last.
For Shannon, choosing Scotty's Little Soldiers as the beneficiary was an obvious decision.
Her husband serves in the military, so she wanted to support an organisation helping families through the loss of a loved one.

She said: "I think it's the only military charity that centres around children and bereavement and looking after the families if something happens."
"And obviously with my husband being in the military, you want to know that if anything happens you've got the support out there."
Scotty's Little Soldiers, founded in 2010, supported more than 760 bereaved military children and young people in 2025 and provides support until they turn 25.
