Hargreaves Services has secured a 15-year contract to manage logistics for Scotland’s upcoming Deposit Return Scheme (DRS), in a deal expected to support long-term growth for the company.

The contract was awarded by Australian recycling company Re.Group and covers the collection, transport and transfer of returned drinks containers from retail return points across Scotland to processing facilities.

The contract will begin in October 2027 and is expected to contribute positively to Hargreaves Services’ financial performance in the year ending May 2028, with the full impact anticipated in the 2029 financial year.

Headquartered in Newcastle upon Tyne, Hargreaves Services operates across the environmental, infrastructure and property sectors.

The Deposit Return Scheme is intended to operate across England, Scotland and Northern Ireland by October 1, 2027, with the aim of improving recycling and reducing the environmental impact of discarded drinks containers.
